Vigilia
Hybrid Movement Company, a contemporary circus troupe in Brooklyn, needed a set of visual concepts for Vigilia—a unique seasonal party, ritual, and performance.
VISUAL IDENTITY / BRAND DESIGN / MOTION DESIGN / CONCEPT WORK
The company wanted to build some hype for the next event and were open to seeing anything I could come up with. After some research and collaborative brief-building, I presented three visual concepts. Each concept was also tied to a verbal identity co-authored through a collaborative research and development process.

Concept 1: The Joy of Expression
Experience awe-inspiring art. Express your authentic self on the dancefloor. Connect with an exuberantly creative community. Find self-expression through traditional rites.

Concept 2: Find Something Deeper
Find an alternative to the typical party/rave. Movement, elevated. Safe, ethical, friendly, fun, and artful.

Concept 3: Fight Against Alienation
Prioritize real-life experience. Participate and stay present. Fight against loneliness, division, and prejudice—we always need hope. Stay off your phone and experience the present moment.

The Process
I learned as much as I could about the event, conducted interviews with key team members, audited the existing brand, analyzed the competition, and presented a strategy based on everything I found: five verbal directions, which we ultimately narrowed down to three.
